Speaker Appoints Rep. Hineman to Serve on Appropriations Committee
Topeka – Speaker of the House
Mike O’Neal has appointed Representative Don Hineman to serve on the House
Appropriations Committee.
“I appreciate Don's desire to work
for consensus under difficult fiscal circumstances,” said Speaker O’Neal.
“We are all going to have to come together to pass a sound budget in 2010.”
As the 2010 session begins, the
Appropriations Committee will be forced to deal with decreased tax revenues
and a government that grew unchecked during the tenure of former Governor
Sebelius.
By appointing Representative Hineman
Speaker O’Neal has brought a new perspective to the committee. 2010 is not
without challenges but the appropriations members are well prepared for the
task at hand.
“The budget crisis in Kansas state
government will be with us for some time to come. I believe it is time to
take a fresh look at how the state conducts its business, with an eye toward
making it more efficient in the delivery of essential governmental
services,” said Representative Hineman. “I welcome the opportunity to be a
part of that process.”
